Auction bidding in Japan
Bid at Japan's
dealer-only auctions
ASNet is closed to the public, so your advisor opens a private catalogue from it, checks every car that fits your brief, and bids to the limit you set together.
What ASNet is
One network, open to licensed dealers only.
Trade stock, graded and photographed before a member can bid.
Most of Japan's best used cars never reach a public listing. They move through dealer auction networks, where licensed members bid against each other on stock that is graded, photographed and inspected before it reaches the floor. ASNet is one of those networks.
You cannot register for it, and no amount of browsing will surface its stock. We hold the membership, so the way in is through an advisor who buys there every week.
Not everything there goes to a bid. Some cars carry a fixed price you can take on the spot, and some run to an auction deadline. Your catalogue marks which is which, because it changes how you price the car and how fast you have to decide.
How buying here works
Three moves, and your advisor carries all three.
-
01
You set the brief
Model, budget, the spec you want and the condition floor you will accept. Your advisor turns that into a standing search across the network.
-
02
We open a private catalogue
Every car matching your brief arrives as a shared link: lot and venue, mileage and grade, the opening bid, the photographs and the inspection sheet behind each one.
-
03
We bid to your limit
You name a ceiling. We bid up to it and never past it. If the car goes higher, it goes to someone else and your deposit comes back.
What lands in your hands
A shared link, refreshed as cars are listed
Every entry carries its lot number and auction venue, the mileage and engine size, the independent grade and the opening bid. The photographs and the inspection sheet sit behind each one.
That is also everything the calculator asks for, so you can price any car on the list yourself before you reply.

What you pay to start
10%
of the car price, to place a bid
Before the bid
A 10% deposit puts your bid in the room. Nothing else is due while we are still bidding.
If we do not win
The deposit comes back in full. You are free to set a new limit on the next car, or to walk away.
Once the car is yours
The balance follows the shipping and clearance milestones, on a schedule your advisor confirms in writing before you commit.
We publish this so you can plan the cash flow. Payments go to Direct Car Import Sdn Bhd only, and your advisor confirms the account with you directly. We never post bank details on this website.
Price it yourself, or ask us
The calculator is public and it does the same arithmetic your advisor does. Six fields off a lot and the landed cost for Malaysia comes back itemised, in about 30 seconds.
None of it is compulsory. Your advisor prices any lot in your catalogue on the same numbers, so the calculator is there for the times you would rather not wait.
-
01
Pick the mode
It opens on Bidding, which is the one for an auction lot. If your catalogue marks the car one price, take the second tab instead.
-
02
Copy six fields
Maker, model and vehicle type, the price in yen, the registration month and year. Every one of them is on the lot your advisor sent you.
-
03
Read every line
Leave Full Breakdown ticked and sign in with your phone number. The duty, the fees and our service fee come back as separate lines, not one number.
Free, and a phone number signs you in.
Rather not run it yourself?

Questions about bidding
Straight answers on access, deposits, condition and timing.
It is one of the dealer auction networks Japan's used-car trade runs on. Licensed dealers bid there against each other on stock that has been graded and inspected before it reaches the floor. We are a member; the network itself is not ours.
No. Membership is limited to licensed dealers, so there is no public login to give you. Your advisor opens a private catalogue from your brief instead, and refreshes it as new cars are listed.
Yes. The import calculator is public, and a lot from your catalogue gives you everything it asks for: maker, model, vehicle type, the price in yen and the registration date. Choose Bidding for an auction lot, or the one-price tab if your catalogue marks the car that way. Seeing the itemised breakdown needs a phone number and a verification code, which takes a minute and does not involve an advisor. Running it yourself is optional. If you would rather not, your advisor prices any lot in your catalogue on the same numbers.
A deposit of 10% of the car price, which puts your bid in the room. If the bid does not win, it is refunded in full. The balance follows the shipping and clearance milestones, on a schedule your advisor confirms in writing.
Your deposit comes back in full and nothing else is owed. Auctions run to a weekly calendar, so you can set a limit on the next matching car straight away, or stop there.
Every lot carries an independent grade and an auction sheet recording panel damage, repairs and interior condition. Both sit behind the listing in your catalogue, and your advisor reads the sheet with you before you set a limit.
Yes, and it is the way we always work. You name a ceiling, we bid up to it and never past it. There is no scenario where you are committed to a higher number than the one you agreed.
Most cars reach their owner in 8 to 12 weeks of the winning bid. That covers the auction settlement, shipping to Port Klang, customs clearance, duty assessment and registration.
Carry on from here
The other way to buy in Japan, and the two other markets we buy from.
Importing from Japan. Both routes, side by side.
Auction bidding is one of two ways we buy in Japan. The country page sets it against one-price stock across seven dimensions.
Import from the UK right-hand drive, wide spec range
Performance and luxury stock that rarely reaches Malaysia, listed openly on the platforms locals use.
Import from Australia well-kept, low-mileage cars
A market of well-kept cars close to home, with the same itemised landed cost before you commit.
Tell us what you are looking for
Your advisor opens a catalogue from your brief, usually the same day.
No cost to look, and no deposit until you choose a car to bid on.
